Great looking watch, great experience with Duty Free Island - Review by from United States
4.7 out of 5
Overall I am really happy with this watch. I was drawn to it because it has a similar look to an automatic chronograph from Baume et Mecier I looked at years ago. That's not in the budget right now, but when I saw this I was intrigued and decided to pull the trigger.

First impressions - the dial looks great. The dial is just slightly off-white and has a sheen to it, kind of like it is made of mother of pearl. There is a lot of subtle texture on the dial that doesn't show up on the pictures. The subdials have a different sheen to them from the rest of the face of the watch and help them stand out. They are also outlined in metal, which catches the light when you tilt it back and forth. The hands are blue and really pop off the dial, particularly when viewed at a slight angle. I love the dual window date at 12 o'clock.

It's well built. The hands line up with their markers. The printing on the dial is sharp. The crystal looks great. I slammed it into the clothes dryer about 10 minutes after I put it on, but it didn't leave a mark. The only negative quality issue is that there is no audible click when you start the chronograph. This maybe by design - you do feel a click, you just don't hear anything. There is an audible click when you hit the reset pusher. The lume doesn't light up the room at night, but it is good and suitable to the look of the watch.

Its bigger than the other watches I wear. However, it's perfectly normal sized by current standards. There is a lot of information on the dial too, so I guess the extra size helps keep the watch legible. Personally, I would prefer a slightly smaller size. That said, the watch is slim and sits well on the wrist. It fits comfortably under the cuff of my dress shirt.

The band is fine. It's padded leather. It's kind of a burgundy brown color and is (I assume) faux-alligator/snakeskin or something. There are two keeper loops - one fixed near the buckle and one adjustable - which is nice. It looks good with the watch, but it's not what I would have chosen. It's certainly what you should expect for the price, but think I am going to try it on nylon or on a black band.

A few words about Duty Free Island. I had never bought a watch from an overseas seller before and I was a bit apprehensive. The transaction went great. They shipped right away. I live off the beaten path a bit in Virginia, and it got here in a week. I didn't have to pay any customs duty or the like - just like Duty Free Island said. Came with the box, warranty, instruction book, etc.

Pros: Looks great. Enough texture on the dial to keep interest. Really like the blue hands and the 12-o'clock dual date window. Well built. Fits under the cuff of a dress shirt. Feel like I got a great value for the money. Great experience with Duty Free Island.
Cons: Slightly too big for this reviewer. The pusher that activates the chronograph doesn't have a satisfying click.
Neutral: It's quartz. This is great in that it is affordable and you don't have to keep it on a winder. Doesn't have the romance of an automatic though. Band is just ok.
